Hyprland and an Ultrawide Monitor
·1 min
I have a 34" 21:9 ultrawide monitor, with a resolution of 3440 x 1440. I’ve also started using Hyprland recently, which is a tiling window manager. The problem I’ve come across is that when you have just one window open on a workspace it spans the whole width of the screen which looks a bit silly and can cause some bad user experiences.
To solve this I have a workspace rule which basically adds symmetrical gaps to either side of a window if there is only one window on a workspace. This is the rule:
workspace = w[t1], gapsout:10 700 10 700
This add a gap of 10px at the top and bottom of the window, and a gap of 700px on either side of the window. It looks much better.
